About the group's activities.

January 2011
Dear Temple of Aaron Members,
As we enter 2011, our 101st year, I would like to thank the many dedicated volunteers who helped us plan our Centennial events celebrating our first 100 years. I would also like to acknowledge the work of Rabbi Alan Shavit-Lonstein, Cantor Mitchell Kowitz, Rabbi Barry Cytron, and Ritual Coordinator Larry Eisenstadt for their efforts throughout the year to meet the needs of all of our members.
Temple of Aaron is here for every congregant. We must strive to meet the expectations of our diverse membership. “Hineni; Here I am,” the subject being studied in our current Lunch and Learn series, is an important theme and a challenge for us at the Temple of Aaron.  As your President, I can best respond to your concerns as long as you communicate directly to me. Please give me feedback at any time. I promise to research and review all requests that I receive.
In order for our Temple to be here for all of us, we are asking every member to accept a modest dues increase of 1.95% for 2011. You may recall there was no increase in 2010.  The increase will be used to continue implementing the Strategic Plan.  This includes reviewing our staffing model, continued support of our clergy, program development, marketing, balancing our budget, and meeting the many lifecycle needs of our Temple of Aaron membership. The Temple of Aaron regularly responds to special circumstances by confidentially working with members to find the appropriate dues level.  Of course if you are able, we encourage you to step forward and increase your support at a level greater than 1.95% to solidify our financial foundation.
The past year was bittersweet for our congregation. We were excited to honor our Cantor with a 20-year anniversary celebration. In May, Wendy Goodman retired and we honored her for her dedication and many years as our Principal. We hired a new team in our Education and Youth Department, with the help of our Youth and Education Services committee.  Joshua Fineblum Director of Education, Robby Erlich Youth Department and Susie Haim Administrative Assistant, serve as our new Education staff. In June we were saddened by the loss of our beloved Rabbi Bernard S. Raskas.
Finally, I am always gratified to see the names of so many of our congregants supporting our community.   In 2010 our members worked with Sholom Home, JCRC, JFS, JCA, Hadassah, Nechama, Herzl Camp, Camp Chi, Camp Ramah, Talmud Torah, UJFC, and the JCC. Your ongoing dedication to our Temple and our Jewish community is extraordinary and I thank you.
On behalf of the Temple of Aaron Board of Directors, I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011.
B’ Shalom,
Michael Saxon
